A video that has gone viral online, amassing more than 90,000 views on Facebook, claims to show MC Cham Jr and Nenneh Freda Gomez allegedly kissing during the Unite Movement for Change Town Hall Meeting held on Sunday, October 4, 2025. The footage was shared by a Facebook page named NPP MUST GO26 operated under the username Manasi Barrow. In the clip, the two political figures appear to be sitting next to each other, with the video suggesting an intimate moment between them during the event. The post quickly gained attention, sparking debates and mixed reactions on social media, specifically on Facebook.
However, the authenticity of the video raised immediate doubts. The footage appeared to be of low resolution, with unnatural movements and distorted facial details, typical red flags of AI manipulation. To verify the accuracy of the claim, our researchers conducted a reverse image search using key frames extracted from the video. The results traced the imagery back to a genuine photo originally posted by MC Cham Jr himself on the same Sunday of the event. The original image, available here, shows MC Cham Jr at the Town Hall Meeting, but with no indication of the alleged incident. The manipulated video, which can be found here was posted by the page NPP MUST GO26 (Manasi Barrow) a few hours ago. Upon closer analysis, the video exhibits clear signs of artificial generation. Notably, between the timestamps 4:14 and 6:02, a man seated directly behind MC Cham Jr claps his hands, but when zoomed in, his hands appear to pass through each other, unreal in real footage, but a common artifact in AI-generated videos.
In addition, multiple sources who were physically present at the Unite Movement for Change Town Hall Meeting confirmed to our team that no such incident occurred between MC Cham Jr and Nenneh Freda Gomez. These confirmations, coupled with the technical inconsistencies in the video, reinforce that the viral footage is indeed fabricated and AI-generated.
The claim that MC Cham Jr and Nenneh Freda Gomez were caught kissing during the Unite Movement for Change Town Hall Meeting is false. The viral video is a product of AI manipulation, created using a genuine image from the event to fabricate a misleading narrative. As The Gambia heads toward the 2026 presidential election, such deceptive content is expected to increase across social media platforms. We urge all social media users to remain vigilant, verify information before sharing, and consume digital content responsibly to avoid amplifying false or misleading narratives.
