From the 21st to 25th October 2024 ,fact-check center the Gambia sent a representatives to join the Gambia participates on a 5 day constitutional comparative review following the drafting of a new constitution after the rejection of the 2020 draft. This is aimed to bring in different civil society organizations to have a through and an insightful comparative review of the 2020 draft constitution and the 2024 draft constitution.
The event involved representatives from different civil society organizations and as well as people that have vast knowledge of law and matters related to it. The event entirely was led by a legal person and in attendance were some commissioners who as well help in guiding the discussion on the right way.
This is as a result of our aim to have the constitution we want, the constitution that will be a constitution of the people. And to do this is to at the end of the day present a position paper to the national assembly, highlighting key recommendations given by these CSOs that should be considered in the process of building a new constitution of our country.
CSOs that were in attendance are encouraged to remain committed as we look forward to collectively making our voices heard.
