Following the killing of two Police Intervention Unit (PIU) personnel yesterday at the Sukuta/Jabang traffic lights, which left one severely injured and today pronounced death by Health officials at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, it has come to our attention that a picture used by Concern TV Gambia, an online media platform, purporting to be the alleged suspect, was found to be false.
The picture used has no connection to the alleged suspect. His surname is not Bojang, and he is not a resident of Brufut, as reported by certain media outlets. The man in the picture is actually the Deputy Imam of Bakau, and his name is Saikou Sonko. The alleged suspect, as reported by the Gambia Police Force, is one Ousainou Bojang, 32 years old, from Brufut.
In conclusion, the purported picture circulating is false and misleading.
