The Fact Check Center – The Gambia is dedicated to fostering accuracy in social media interactions and public discussions by rectifying the dissemination of false or misleading claims.
The managing editors overseeing our fact-checking projects wield authority over day-to-day editorial decisions. Our editorial policy and independence remain impervious to external influence from any other entity or source.
Our selection of claims to fact-check hinges on factors such as reach, relevance to the public, and the potential impact a claim may have if left unverified. Our commitment lies solely in presenting the facts, and we actively engage with all pertinent stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to our fact-check reports.
While each fact-checking report we produce is unique, our commitment to fairness remains consistent across all evaluations.
The rating options include:
False: The primary claim(s) of the content is factually inaccurate. This generally corresponds to “false” or “mostly false” ratings on fact-checkers sites.
True: The primary claim(s) of the content are factually accurate. This generally corresponds to “true” or “mostly true” ratings on fact-checkers sites.
Misleading: Elements of the claim are accurate but presented in a way that is misleading.
Hate Speech: Content that includes language or expressions promoting hatred, discrimination, or violence towards individuals or groups based on attributes such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics.
Fact Sheets: Comprehensive documents outlining verified facts and relevant information on specific topics.
Explainers: In-depth articles or guides clarifying complex issues, ensuring a better understanding of the subject matter.
